An accident involving a motorcycle and a car created a traffic jam on Route 19 near Pleasantview Drive, in front of Ace Plaza, in Peters Township on Friday afternoon around 12:45 p.m.

William R. Vasko, 50, of Bentleyville, was life-flighted to Allegheny General Hospital after his motorcycle and a black Pontiac G5 collided, according to Peters police. The extent of Vasko's injuries are unknown.

The driver of the Pontiac was not injured. Witnesses told police MacKenzy Radolec, 22, of McMurray, looked left and right before turning onto Route 19 south from Pleasantview Drive.

Witnesses also told police Vasko veered left trying to avoid the crash. Capt. Michael Yanchak said he believes Vasko was wearing a helmet.

Peters police responded to a second accident minutes later in front of Bob Evans, and a third in front of Three Rivers Volkswagen. No injuries were reported at either crash and both are believed to have been caused by backed-up traffic, according to Yanchak.

Friday traffic in our community has increased. With the turning lane being abused I am surprised we don't have more accidents. We have a constant turning in and turning onto Rt. 19...Remember ...better to look another time before turning into traffic moving at 40 miles an hour and typically faster...safe travels!
