'Art in the Garden' Returns for Another Year

Now in its 19th year, Washington County Historical Society's longest running annual event features the artwork of Peters resident Arlene Popko.

A Peters Township resident will be showcasing her artwork at Washington County Historical Society's longest running annual event, now in its 19th year.

Artist Arlene Popko of Venetia returns to "Art in the Garden" at the LeMoyne House in Washington on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 2-6 p.m.

The event features original artwork from 65 renowned area artists and combines live music, delicious hors d'oeuvres, kids' activities and beautiful artwork.

Last year's event attracted hundreds of supporters and three Peters natives were part of the artisan lineup.

Tickets are $20 and part of the proceeds benefit the LeMoyne House, Pennsylvania’s first National Historic Landmark of the Underground Railroad, and its programs.

“Eighteen years ago we came up with the idea to create a miniature arts show to make the works of the artists more affordable. It’s really taken off from there,” Ray Forquer, event committee member, told Patch last September.

The LeMoyne House is located at 49 East Maiden St., Washington, PA 15301. Call 724-225-6740 for ticket information.
