Get Out: Enjoy the Last of 2011

Here are some ideas!

 

1. Milkshake Happy Hour

Where/When: Chick-fil-A, 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday 

Why Go?: Chick-Fil-A is offering half-price milkshakes for a special holiday promotion. Come finish off 2011 with a yummy treat.

2. Holiday Bird Show

Where?/When?: National Aviary, 12 p.m. on Friday through Saturday

Why Go?: Fleury, a one year-old Snowy Owl will perform at the National Aviary! This fun-filled and comical twist on the traditional carol song, the show will have audiences singing along! Audiences will enjoy free-flight bird appearances while learning lesser known bird trivia, including why Santa chose reindeer instead of penguins to fly his sleigh. This show is not included in general admission.

Pricing: General admission: $13/adults; $12/seniors; $11/children ages 2-12; under 2 are free. Tickets to the Holiday Bird Show are an additional $5 per person.

3. Noon Year’s Eve Celebration

Where?/When?: Pittsburgh Zoo, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: It's like Times Square only family friendly! Countdown to noon and watch the "ball" drop, sign the New Year's ReZOOlution banner and dance yourself silly with Radio Disney!

Pricing: $10/adults; $9/children and seniors  

4. Countdown to Noon

Where?/When?: Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, 11:30 a.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: Kids are welcome to a bedtime-friendly New Year's Celebration with lots of fun activities and an exciting show by local magician Jason Hurdy.

Pricing: $12/adults; $11/children 2-18; $11/senior citizens; $10/member guests; children younger than 2 are free.

5. First Night 2012

Where/When: Downtown Pittsburgh, 6 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: Highmark First Night Pittsburgh is a unique, family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration focused on the arts. Held in more than 200 cities worldwide, the festival is a wonderful way to bring in the New Year in an uplifting, alcohol-free atmosphere. Centered in the Cultural District, First Night Pittsburgh has something for everyone, from children’s activities and performances by nationally-known musicians, to installations by local artists and a spectacular fireworks finale. 6. Family Fun Night

Where?/When?: Iceoplex at Southpointe, 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: Families are invited to attend Family Fun Night at the Iceoplex! Activities include skating, soccer, face painting, dodgeball and much more!

Pricing: $8 per person if tickets are purchased in advance; $10 at the door

7. New Year's Eve @ Table 22

Where?/When?: Table Brick Oven & Bar, 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: Rob Bayne will perform at Table Brick Oven & Bar in Peters as part of a New Year's Eve Celebration.

Pricing: Free
