Get Out: Book Launch Party, Vintage to Vogue Open House and Scott Blasey

1. Afternoon Movie & Munchies

Where/When: Peters Township Public Library, Thursday, 4-6 p.m.

Why Go: Join us for a relaxing afternoon of movies and munchies in the Teen Reading Room! The program is for grades six through 12. Register at the teen desk.

2. KenKarta Book Launch Party

Where/When: Peters Township Public Library, Friday, 4-7 p.m.

Why go?: KenKarta: Battle of the Onoxmon, a novel written by local author Alison Kartevold, with and for her daughters, is making its national debut. Join us to help celebrate this momentous event with free food, prizes, entertainment and music! Check out our recent Patch article on the book's story and Kartevold's inspiration. The authors and co-creators will be on-hand to sign copies of the book. Register online or call 724-941-9430.

3.  Backroads Bluegrass Concert

Where/When: David's Music House, Friday, 8-10 p.m.

Why go?: The first concert of May will be an awesome night for bluegrass and fans of all music in the community! The band Backroads Bluegrass will perform.

Pricing: $10 - $20 donation requested at door

4. Arts & Crafts Fair

Where/When: St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church, Saturday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go?: The women of St. Benedict's are hosting their annual Arts & Crafts Fair! There will be 60 vendors with jewelry, floral arrangements, woodworking and more! There will also be 50/50 and basket raffles. Hot and cold foods, drinks and desserts will be available to purchase.

5. Decorating Kids’ Rooms

Where/When: Pottery Barn Kids at the Galleria, Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go?: Learn how to create a Pottery Barn Kids room! The staff will provide parents with great tips on creating a beautiful and fun environment for children. Call to register.

Pricing: FREE and 10 percent off select products!

6. Trax Farms Rose Days

Where/When: Trax Farms Market, Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Why Go?: On Friday, Jerry Amoroso from Weeks Roses is stopping by Trax Farms for an exciting and informative rose presentation. Sheri Franz, master gardener, will stop by on Sunday. Join a drawing to be the first to win the latest experimental rose introductions from Weeks Roses.

7. Mario Kart!

Where/When: Peters Township Public Library, Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why Go: Bring the kids to compete in this exciting tournament while you cheer them on! Arrive early to register. Take a look back at our Patch article highlighting a previous tournament.

8. American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Peters Township

Where/When: Peters Township High School, Saturday, 12 p.m. - Sunday 8 a.m.

Why Go?: There is plenty to do at this year’s Relay For Life. There will be live bands, games, family-style entertainment and refreshments. Teams will decorate their respective sites around the stadium track using this year’s “board game” theme. Registration for the cancer survivor's dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Call Dee Patricia at 724-941-0131 to register. The Relay For Life Survivors Ceremony and Lap will be held at 8:30 p.m., followed by the Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. to honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost the battle against cancer.

9. Spring Open House at Vintage to Vogue

Where/When: Vintage to Vogue, Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 12-4 p.m.

Why Go?: This open house will feature special promotions for two days only! There will be light refreshments as you shop. Check out the new arrivals on jewelry, handbags and more!

10. Scott Blasey Live at the Library

Where/When: Peters Township Public Library, Sunday, 7 p.m.

Why Go?: The leader singer of The Clarks is coming to the library. Scott Blasey will perform a family-friendly, solo concert in the main lobby. You won't want to miss this event! Register online or call 724-941-9430.
