Giant Eagle Express Coming to Peters
Peters Township Council Monday night approved the 15,000-square-foot plan, which includes the small grocery, a GetGo gas station, car wash and pharmacy.

Monday night, Peters Township Council approved a plan for a Giant Eagle Express to be built along Route 19 in the former Charapp Ford South building—most recently occupied by SP Floors.
Council members Jim Berquist and Frank Arcuri were absent from the meeting.
The 5-0 approval comes after years of going back and forth with Giant Eagle on the company’s ideas for that space, according to Peters Township Planning Director Ed Zuk.
The property stretches from Beinhauer Funeral Home to Huntington Learning Center and will include the small grocery, a GetGo gas station, a car wash and a pharmacy.
The current building will be demolished and a new building will be constructed, according to Kevin Brett, senior project manager for Lennon, Smith, Souleret Engineering Inc., who was speaking on Giant Eagle’s behalf Monday.
The plan was approved as a subdivision for liquor license potential. If approved, liquor would only be sold in the grocery store.
As part of the plan, Circle Drive will be modified for a left turn lane. Township officials said Peters residents near the new site plan have been made aware.
The Giant Eagle Express and GetGo gas pumps will be open and accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Zuk confirmed a sidewalk would not be added to Circle Drive.
Site plans showed outdoor seating as part of the grocery store's amenities. Currently, only two additional Giant Eagle Express locations exist in Indiana, PA and Harmarville.

I am tired of Giant Eagles domination.
There is no competition,
They managed to block a couple of attempts fot Shop and Save to get closer to us.

Well, I guess I'll enjoy the convenience. But it's too bad that Route 19 through Peters Twp. is well on its way to becoming the equivalent of McKnight Road or Monroeville's Business Route 22. I know the elected officials and particularly township staff do their best to try to make the situation as palatable as possible!

It will be good to have some grocery convenience at that end of the township, but Giant Eagle is the only grocery store chain in the township. I agree with both Nora and Harry. We like to frequent the family owned Dairy Bar. It is sad to see that Giant Eagle has monopolized this township.

PA Mom, ... a couple of other grocery stores came, opened, and tried to make a profitable business in the township. The residents voted with their feet and wallets. If people chose not to patronize to the extent necessary to be profitable, then the residents are stuck with the monopoly.
The demise of the others is a great example of lots of talk about how great, how liked, etc, but no follow with patronizing. Businesses don't exist for the purpose of just having a presence, or offering employment. Unfortunately, many people don't realize this very simple understanding of commerce.

I have heard that Giant Eagle pushes they competition out by controlling the suppliers.
