High Priority Road Project to Begin, Improve Safety
East McMurray Road, near Center Church Road, will be widened and a traffic signal will be added—construction starts April 2.
Peters Township residents will soon be enjoying a wider and safer intersection of East McMurray and Center Church roads.
East McMurray Road will be widened to provide right and left turning lanes at the intersection of South Center Church Road, and a left turn lane at the intersection of North Center Church Road. In addition, a new traffic signal will also be added to the South Center Church Road intersection.
"This is a high priority project of Peters Township," said township Manager Michael Silvestri. "It is a project that will address the most significant accident intersection off of Route 19."
Resurfacing and other miscellaneous construction will be performed within the limits of the project.
"The township is financially participating in this project," he said. "This has long been anticipated by residents in the area. It is considered a safety improvement."
Beginning April 2, single-lane restrictions will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Holly Drive Road and 300 feet northeast of North Center Church Road.
Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 26. A contract for $871,916.99 was awarded to A. Liberoni, Inc.

I'd like to know when the Valleybrook/Washington Rd intersection will be started! Already 2 years of promises and no progress in sight!

Greg's correct, Mary. That project belongs to PennDOT, but we'll be sure to keep you posted if/when the plans follow through!

Will the Bebout overpass be completed before the Center Church project begins? I certainly hope so! They have been talking about the Center Church project for well over 5 years now. I think traffic at that intersection has well over doubled since the original plan was made. I personally feel that the original plan will not even come close to accommodating the volume of vehicles that intersection now has.
