"Officially going to The University of Virginia #UVA," Veronica Latsko wrote.
Latsko told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review she found herself always thinking about one school—UVA. "They have a very competitive program," she told the newspaper. "They want to win, and I want to win.”
Last year, at the state championship game, Latsko scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Pennridge—capturing the second straight PIAA Class AAA title.
It was the first time in which a female soccer team had defended its previous title in Pennsylvania state history.
Last fall, she lead Peters with 45 goals, and has tallied 78 goals in two years.
Considered one of the top scoring forwards in Pennsylvania, the sophomore striker was named 2011 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Player of the Year and Post-Gazette Player of the Year for 2012.
According to the Trib, her speed and skills were major reasons why she was highly sought after. Latsko also told the newspaper she loved how the academic aspect at Virginia was greatly emphasized. The school is in the top 25 for education, she said.
