Peters Township Chamber Director Dies

Peters resident Carol Foley died Tuesday afternoon.

Peters Township Chamber of Commerce Director Carol Foley died Tuesday afternoon. The news came unexpectedly.

She did not attend Peters Township Community Day two weeks ago, which came as a shock to many Peters residents.

This year marked her 25th year as chamber director. In March, she told Patch she felt so blessed to be in this community.

"Peters is a great place to live, work and play,” she said. “People care about their kids and what goes on here. It’s a good community.”

With her leadership, the chamber grew to more than 400 members, which makes the organization one of the largest in the region.

Foley grew up in Follansbee, WV, and graduated third in her class. She completed business school in Steubenville, OH, before returning to Pittsburgh.

She told Patch she was a former model, and that her family and involvement at Center Presbyterian Church came first. Foley was the editor of the church newsletter.

She and her husband, Ed—a pediatrician at The Washington Hospital—had just celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary, and have six kids and 10 grandchildren together.

Chamber member Scott Beinhauer said, "The community has lost a wonderful, dedicated, caring and loving person."

Funeral arrangements are being made at Beinhauer. Check back with Patch Wednesday for an official obituary.

Carol Foley adopted Peters Twp as her community and put her heart and talents into helping Peters Township gain an excellent reputation. She was a true professional and respected woman who has served the PT Chamber of Commerce and Center Church well, and as a result this community and the school district has benefitted.

I knew Carol for many years through the chamber of commerce. A very nice and professional lady. I'm saddened to hear the news.

I have lost a dear friend and the community has lost a wonderful woman. Though Carol cannot be replaced her legacy will live on through all that she has done for Center Church and all of Peters Township. She will be missed.

Carol Ann was a class act. In that sense especially, she was her Mother's daughter. She had her share of pain and disappointment, and then some; and she was a survivor, and then some. She was absolutely devoted to her sons and to family generally. The world is richer for her having passed thru.
