The Calendar Says It's Spring—But Don't Get Your Warm Weather Gear Out Yet
The National Weather Service said March has been 'brutal"—and that the weather likely won't get better this month.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Lee Hendricks told all the ladies in the Peters Township: "No need to worry about fitting into those bikinis yet."
Yes, the calendar might tell us that today, March 20, is the first day of spring.
But the weather forecast would make you think it's just another winter day.
According to the National Weather Service, today we will see partly cloudy skies, with a high near 36. But also expect wind gusts of up to 28 mph during the day.
Come nighttime, you better get that Snuggie out because it's gonna be a bit nippy.
The NWS indicates there will be slight chance of snow showers with a low of (gulp) 18 degrees. The good news? The chance of precipitation is expected to be just 20 percent.
Thursday won't be much better.
There will be a slight chance of showers, cloudy skies and a temperature that hovers around 38 degrees.
By Saturday, the temperature should be 41 degrees.
Wish it was warmer?
Hendricks said it might be a while.
"The trend right now thought the first of April is pretty much what we have been experiencing," he said.
And if you're wondering, the temperature—which has and will be hovering in the 30s and 40s—is about 10 degrees below the norm for this time of year.
