Trade In Old Holiday Lights For LEDs

The deal at Home Depot runs through Wednesday.

A number of Peters Township residents took advantage of the weekend's warm weather and put up their holiday light displays.

But did any of you find broken light sets while you were getting into the Christmas spirit?

You may want to know about the deal Home Depot has going on through Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Customers can bring in their old working or non-working Christmas light strings to be recycled and receive coupons from $3 - $5 off the purchase of energy efficient seasonal LED string lights.

Putting up Christmas lights this weekend—too early or smart idea? Tell us in the comments.

Note that we switched to color LED lights on one of our inside Christmas trees and were unhappy with it. The reason is that LED lights, while emitting a bright color, do NOT provide much illumination. Our tree seemed dark and ominous, not festive. We determined that we would have to also put clear (white) LED lights on the tree to provide the missing illumination.

Gary - We switched to all bright white LEDs and are very happy with the result.
