People are always saying you should take time to stop and smell the roses. We think you should also take time to stop and read the street signs.
Peters Township is full of streets with interesting names. Some are named after aspects of the area’s varying topography, while others are named after types of trees or flowers. There are streets bearing women’s names and roads that pay homage to Anglican figures, places and history. And, of course, there are some streets that fall into a category of their own.
Sometimes, the thing that makes a street name stand out the most is the other things it draws to mind. A sign might remind you of a song you haven’t heard in a while, or of a movie or book. It can make you think of a joke you heard or something off-color. It can do a lot of things.
We found a dozen streets in the area with interesting names that can also call other images to mind. So, take a gander and let your synapses fire.

I can only help you with a the 'true' meanings of a few of the 12 street names chosen. Iron Horse, Bridle Trail, & Equestrian in the 6th & 7th Phases of Old Trail were named for horses as my father had part ownership in a horse when he designed this section of the plan. Candlelite, Marlboro, Inverness, Druid, Fireside, Andiron, etc. In Stonehenge were all named after places/streets in Stonehenge, United Kingdom. Hope that adds some perspective. :-)

Wow! Thanks for adding some perspective, Ted. My comments were all just in the spirit of fun. I was sure that the streets I mentioned (as well as those I didn't) were rich with some type of history or lore. I find the info you supplied about the streets being named for horses particularly interesting. It explains a lot and gives me something to envision when I drive those streets.
