What's Your Vision for Peters in 10 Years?
Peters Township has released a survey for residents as part of its comprehensive plan update.
As part of Peters Township's comprehensive plan update, the township has released a survey for residents. This preliminary step helps set a "benchmark" for how the community functions today.
By law, the municipality is required to update its plan every 10 years—according to the PA Municipalities Planning Code (PA MPC).
The township recently released the following, which includes a link to the survey:
Do you believe Peters Township should allow more multi-family developments or continue promoting neighborhoods of single-family homes? Have a great idea about how to make McMurray Town Center a more viable and lively place? Think you know why traffic exists and how to better design the street network? Maybe you’re just curious about the development potential in Peters. If so, then it is time to help plan for the future.
As you may know, Peters Township has initiated a process to update the 2001 Comprehensive Plan. The 2001 plan made various long-range land use recommendations that resulted in many noteworthy changes to the community. Some of those include the construction of the Community Recreation Center, intersection improvements at Center Church and E. McMurray roads, and the adoption of a property maintenance code. As a proactive and responsible community, Peters Township understands that it's now time, once again, to ask, “What do we want to be in the next 10-20 years?”
Times have changed since 2001. The state of the economy, shifts in the demographic landscape (aging baby boomers and rise of the millennials), technological advances, emerging energy sources (Shale & “green” energy), and a growing environmental awareness are impacting the way people live, work and interact. Therefore, communities must systematically and strategically plan for their future to ensure that they remain relevant, resilient and desirable. That is why the township has initiated the update process.
The township has hired a consultant team, led by LSL Planning, Inc., to help complete the plan. A process has been prepared, based on the consultant team’s expertise and experience, which is designed to help our community examine existing conditions, understand current trends, identify opportunities and issues, and formulate implementable recommendations for future land use. Throughout the process, the community will be asked to share input, ideas and perspectives on the future of Peters Township over the next 10-20 years.
If you have a great idea, or are just curious, get involved! This process is meant for the community to voice concerns and ideas for future development and land use within Peters. Think we can better design our neighborhoods? Want to preserve the character of Peters? This is your opportunity to express your ideas, learn and help create a vision for the future.
If you have any questions regarding the plan, or would like further information on how to become involved, please visit the project website at planpeters.com or contact Grant Shiring (land use planner) at 724-942-5005 or email@example.com.
To aid in their effort, the consultants have prepared a survey to gather information about the township’s demographics, consumer spending patterns and market conditions. The information obtained will help set a foundation for future goals, objectives, recommendations and strategies for action as the plan and process move forward. If you are a Peters Township resident, please take a few minutes and complete the survey by clicking on the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/peterstwnshpres.
The survey is completely anonymous.
