Those of us living in Steeler Nation will have a big choice Thursday night: Will you tune into the Steelers game or vice presidential debate?

The Pittsburgh Steelers play the Tennessee Titans on the road in a game that will be televised nationally on NFL Network and locally on CW Television.

Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden will square-off against Congressman Paul Ryan in their only debate that will be televised live on ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, PBS and many other stations. AOL also will provide a live stream of the debate on the Internet.

The Steelers and Titans kick-off at 8:20 p.m. while the vice presidential debate is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

Below is more detailed information and analysis on Thursday night's debate and the football game…

I never watch the debates. If you want to know what a candidate stands for, check out their voting record.

I used to do that, Erin, but seems when switching between two stations they both put commercials on at the same time. This may not be an issue with the debate, the last one ran interuption free I believe.

Definitely the debates for me. Biden is part of a duo without a plan or track record to stand on. Their only strategy will be to try to humiliate Paul over absurdities. “Gaffe prone Joe” will come out swinging – I don’t think this thing will end in a tie. One is going to look good and the other is going to walk away looking poorly. It will be reality TV on steroids. How can you miss that?

Hopefully the Titans are as bad as they've been reported to be and I'll flip back and forth - but if the football game is good and/or close, I'm much more likely to watch it than two guys up for the runner up position both of whom are very unlikely to have any say in anything that actually goes on or any policy that gets created.

It’s going to be a tough call to choose between the vice presidential debate or the Steelers game, but I am going to go with football! It’s been a long week, and I don’t want to get wound up about politics tonight. I can catch up with the debate tomorrow since it’ll be recorded through my Hopper’s Primetime Anytime feature. Once enabled, my DVR automatically records the big four networks during primetime, so I don’t need to set timers for my programs. A coworker at DISH told me about this feature, and it’s helped me keep up with my shows I want to watch are on. I know it’s the election season, but I’m more excited to see the Steelers beat up on the Titans tonight!

I originally though I wouldn't watch since a VP doesn't really do that much in real life, does he? But then again, it ought to be entertaining since Biden is excellent at throwing verbal jabs. The more I think about it, the more I'm looking forward to it.

NEITHER. Both politics and sports are rigged.

The political system is utterly rigged to give you the illusion of choice while parading in front of you two puppets of different skin colors who both serve the same masters (the banksters).
Sports are rigged because of doping and financial interests.

How do you beat a rigged system? Don't play!
As every Vegas gambler knows deep down, the only way to beat the house is to not play against the house.
I'll save you some time that you can use for something more useful, like playing with your kids or kissing your soul-mate, by telling you the results one day ahead.
Do you want to know who will win the debate? The correct answer is that Goldman Sachs will win the debate. And why? Because both candidates are beholden to Wall Street interests and the global banksters who now influence nearly everything that happens at the highest levels of government. Who will loose the debate? The People of America.

I know who I'm voting for. The debates don't matter to me. I really don't believe there are any undecided voters at this stage of the game.

I agree with your statement of undecided voters. Since Aug 1, has there been very many undecided voters? What have we learned since Aug 1?

There is sure lots of money, effort and politicking for those few votes.

Back and forth...? Really? Is our attention span so short that we cannot focus on one thing for 90 minutes? How can one manage any continuity with a back and forth strategy?

A football game and a debate are entirely different in nature. A football game can be an in/out event because there is so much dead time. But, a debate has a flow to the ideas being expressed. Is there any (much?) value in watching the debate with an in/out plan?

Worked fine for me, Roger, except for the ending of the game.
Watched the first quarter, switched to the debate when it began, watched the debate, paused that at a break between topics and checked in to the game, then watched the rest of the debate; switched back to the dvr'd game, and with FF the commercial breaks, was watching the sad ending to the game live.
It has nothing to do with a short attention span. Of course I can focus on one thing for 90 minutes or longer, but there were TWO events of interest to me being broadcast at the same time.

Adding, if I watched one event live, and then the taped version of the other, it would take more time. I don't watch live tv, always use a tape delay so as to be able to FF through the commercials.
