Winter Storm Warning Goes Into Effect Friday Night
Peters Township is expected to receive snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches overnight.
It's going to be a snowy weekend! If you just shoveled your driveway or sidewalk, get ready to do it again.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a wintery mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow, going into effect at 7 p.m. and ending at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Peters Township area is supposed to see snow, freezing rain and sleet before 3 a.m. Saturday, and sleet after 5 a.m. The low will hover near 25 degrees.
One to 2 inches of overnight snow is expected.
During the day on Saturday, there will be periods of snow, freezing rain and sleet before 3 p.m., with a slight chance of snow between 3 and 4 p.m. An additional 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible.
Extremely hazardous travel conditions are expected, so motorists are asked to use caution and be prepared.
Heavy ice accumulation also can put a lot of weight on tree limbs and power lines, causing them to fall.
Report snow or ice accumulation to the National Weather Service by calling 1-877-633-6772.
