Peters Township Character Counts is looking for your artwork. The PTCC is sponsoring a logo contest marking the 15th year of the "Character Counts" initiative for the purpose of engaging a new generation of students and community members in promoting the vision. The original logo was designed in 1999. Any community member in the from kindergarten through grade 12 is welcome to submit a design—and those submitted artwork can do so on their own or with a group of friends. A local man compiled clips from 29 films shot in Pittsburgh turned them into a music video that has gone viral.
From Silence of the Lambs to Dark Knight Rises to Jack Reacher, Pittsburgh has been the backdrop to more than two dozen Hollywood films. Mt. Lebanon native Aron Zelkonwicz, who grew up watching many of those films, decided to take it one step further by gathering iconic Pittsburgh scenes from 29 films shot in Pittsburgh and compiling them into a music video. “I thought it would be fun,” he told KDKA'S John Shumway. “I had seen all these movies filmed in Pittsburgh and thought why not take the parts everyone wants to see, the shots of Pittsburgh, and put those together.” His labor of love took weeks, in between rehearsals and performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony where he plays the cello. Ronnie Dunn, Pure Gold and Bon Journey set to perform.
Officials from the Mylan Classic and the Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency announced this week that Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn, Pure Gold and Bon Journey will be featured in the tournament’s 2013 concert series. The series will highlight the Mylan Classic’s seven-day schedule of events which begin on Monday, July 29. As a community event, the Mylan Classic offers both championship golf and entertainment for the whole family. Weekly tournament tickets for the Mylan Classic are priced at $25 and include admission for the tournament itself as well as the concert series, clinics, evening entertainment and special events during tournament week. Jesse Powell, an accomplished photographer who has won many photography awards over the years, will be the May speaker at the Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters camera club meeting. He is set to speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Peters Township Public Library. Powell will show members some of his work as well as the equipment he uses to get those great pictures. He is always one of the first to get the latest in camera equipment as soon as it comes on the market. Members are encouraged to participate in the April photo theme assignment, "rain." Check out what a field trip to Cedar Creek Park yielded for these photographers!
More than a dozen members of the Western Pennsylvania Camera Club in Peters Township took a field trip to Cedar Creek Park in Rostraver Township on Saturday to photograph wildflowers. A short walk along the trail found an abundance of Blue-eyed Marys, Phlox, Trilliums, Bluebells and Buttercups. Some of the club members posed for a photo before heading home. Others had to leave early while a few were still deep in the woods continuing to photograph wildflowers. Interested in joining? Want to learn more about the club? Peters Township High School officials invite you to enjoy an upcoming "Evening With the Arts." Mark your calendar for the event, slated for May 7. The evening will feature a student art show from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and a choral concert from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On hand that evening will be displays from the high school art students, and those involved with family and consumer science, media, music, technology education, theater. Members of the Interact Club and SPEARS group will also be in attendance.

I Googled "movies filmed in Pittsburgh" to see the names of the movies in the video clip (as the author didn't bother to offer a list), and it looks like the author of the video picked 29 of all of the movies filmed in Pittsburgh.
