The latest Congressional hypocrite and liar to be exposed to the public is Idaho Republican Senator Mike Crapo.
Crapo was recently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He is a purported Mormon who has publicly stated in the past that he does not consume alcohol.
Crapo does not plan to contest the charge, thus one can only conclude that he is guilty.
Certainly the senator will not resign nor will he likely be rejected by his constituents because lying and committing a crime such as driving under the influence of alcohol are mere "mistakes" which are forgivable in today's society. Perhaps these infractions would not be as forgivable if they had resulted in the death of an innocent motorist.
As I write this, an Allegheny County Councilman has just been charged with the same offense. He has apologized to his constituents and will certainly be forgiven as well.
One can clearly see how critical a facet of our lives alcohol is deemed to be in examining the number of individuals who drink, drive, and get caught doing it, including the many prominent members of our society that have been shown to be willing to risk killing themselves and others on the road. Their conduct shall not be forgotten by me as it is a disgrace. Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol should not and need not have happened had our "leaders" been acting sensibly and responsibly.
If I drove drunk and were arrested, my employer would surely take notice and there would be ramifications, including a suspension. The high and mighty who write our laws are exempt from the standard to which others are held. Can someone explain that to me?
