Here are five things happening south of downtown Pittsburgh this weekend.

There's a lot happening this weekend, including several events worth checking out in the South Hills and in Washington County.

  • A bingo fundraiser to support Angel Ridge Animal Rescue is on Saturday, Aug. 24, starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant VFD Hall in Hickory, PA. See the event listing for details.
  • A charity motorcycle ride on Sunday, Aug. 25, is being held to support research for juvenile diabetes. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the cost is $20 for a single rider. The ride starts at Cuddy VFW Post 586. See the event listing for more details.
  • An art show grand opening is happening on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Bridgeville Public Library, starting at 6 p.m. The show features the frontier art of Andrew Knez Jr. and the black & white photography of Tim Anderson. Check out this article or this event listing for more information.
  • Beach Treats Gifts in Brookline is hosting a Tailgate Party on Friday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. Raffles, secret sales and door prizes will be available as well as plenty of new parking spaces since Brookline Boulevard construction in front of the shop is now complete.
