5 Things: Five Below Opening, Prom and Breakfast for Officer Kuzak

The high school's first-ever spring carnival and The Giant Oaks Garden Club's annual plant sale and flea market, too.

Five Below is a trendy, retail store for the pre-teen and teen market, according to its website. The store will be opening in Donaldson’s Crossroads (near and ) on Friday, May 20. Everything in the store is in the price range of $1 to $5.

The store sells a wide variety of merchandise like sporting goods, accessories, jewelry, games, collectibles, bath products, candy, décor and much more.

students have organized their first-ever Spring Carnival for all high school students. The festivities will begin with music, food, games, relays, inflatables and a dunk booth in the high school stadium at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20.

The students have done a fantastic job setting up this event, however, they still need your help! The high school PTA is asking for . Please come for a few hours or stay the day and enjoy lunch provided by the PTA. If you are interested in helping contact Karen Cashman at jecashman@verizon.net or 724-942-2528.

This year, the Peters Township High School prom will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, May 20. There will be a red carpet event for all attendees that will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the hotel’s back entrance. Have fun and be safe!

will host a benefit pancake breakfast for wounded Officer James Kuzak from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 21. The event will feature silent auctions, great food and fun!

Celebrities Rose Tennent from FM News Talk 104.7, Kevin Gryboski, former MLB pitcher and Todd Jones will be in attendance. There will also be a high-end Chinese auction with Pirate box seat tickets, Steeler tickets, a Southpointe Gold package, a Sean Casey autographed bat and signed Steeler memorabilia.

The cost for the breakfast is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years of age. You can read more about Officer Kuzak .

The Giant Oaks Garden Club is sponsoring the annual spring plant sale and flea market from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21. Items that will be available for purchase include: perennials, herbs, plants from club members' gardens, annuals, hanging baskets, flea market treasures, a raffle basket of gardening supplies, etc. Giant Oaks Garden Club makes donations to many area nonprofits from the proceeds of the sale.
