Annual Spring Plant Sale, Flea Market Coming Up

It's that time of year to tend to your yard and garden. Why not kick off the process with Giant Oaks Garden Club's (GOGC) annual ? 

Scheduled for Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the , the sale will feature perennials, herbs and other plants from club members' gardens. Annuals, hanging baskets and flea market treasures will also be for purchase. 

There will be some surprises, including a raffle basket of gardening items.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit area nonprofits. Last year, the GOGC supported the Canonsburg Lake Restoration and Improvement Committee; The Outdoor Classroom—Boyce and South Park; the Children's Museum—Park Tree; Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens; Peters Township Public Library; Washington County Children's Garden; and Meals on Wheels—among others. 

GOGC supports youth in , and surrounding areas, by offering at least one $1,000 scholarship to an area high school senior pursuing a degree in a horticulture-related field.

GOGC members also visit local senior care facilities providing clients with activities and the materials for indoor and outdoor garden projects; donate plants to Habitat for Humanity; support Peters Township Community Day and maintain the Wright House Gardens.
