Celebrate Earth Day With Planned Activities at Peters Library

There are three opportunities for residents to mark the day.

The Peters Townshp Public Library is planning to mark Earth Day.

The library's GO Green Club will celebrate Earth Day by hosting a free film screening of DIRT! The Movie at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 in the library’s reading room.

DIRT! The Movie is an insightful and timely film that tells the story of the glorious and unappreciated material beneath our feet. One teaspoon of dirt contains a billion organisms working in remarkable balance to maintain and sustain a series of complex, thriving communities that impact our daily lives. The film takes a humorous and substantial look into the history and current state of the living organic matter that we come from and will later return to. Register to attending the screening by emailing programs@ptlibrary.org or call 724-941-9430.

Earlier that same afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m., the library will welcome children in grades 2-6 to a craft-making session using recycled materials as part of a “Celebrate Earth Day” program.

Teens in grades 6 and up can remember Earth Day from 3 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at “I Can Make That out of This?” Students will learn how to make unique items like scarves, keepsake boxes, picture frames, bags and more out of recycled materials. Register to attend at the children’s reference desk or call 724.941.9430.
