Children's Book Inspires Girl Scout's Gold Award Garden Project

The Peters Township senior earned a Gold Award for her work at Bower Hill Elementary.

Students at Bower Hill Elementary have a new outdoor garden to enjoy and learn in thanks to the work of a dedicated girl scout.

Cecelia Allison created an outdoor garden classroom at the school for her Girl Scout Gold Award, according to The Almanac.

Cecelia told the newspaper the design was inspired by one of her favorite children's books, The Hungry Caterpillar.

The garden and bench area will be used in the K through 3 curriculum at the school. Students have already used the garden as a place read or paint as well.

Share your congratulations with Cecelia in the comments below.
