Get Out: Veterans Appreciation, 5K & Beer Tasting Hike

Here are five events to check out this weekend in Peters and nearby.

Where/When: , 9 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go: The annual Peters Township 5K will benefit the PTHS Cross County Team. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. This is a 5K loop course with water stops. Prizes and awards go to the top three male and the top three female overall, and first place in each age group by gender. for a registration form.

Where?/When?: , 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Part of becoming a U.S. citizen is passing the naturalization test, in which up to 10 questions from a list of 100 will be asked—at least six must be answered correctly to pass the test. Join the library to help yourself or a loved one prepare for the test, and feel more confident when entering the naturalization interview. Register for this program online, at the library's circulation desk, or call 724-941-9430.

Where?/When?: , 8 to 10 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Come listen to the music of Nancy Deckant, Zach Paxson and Alayna. for more information on the musical acts.
Pricing: $10 suggested donation

5.
Where?/When?: South Park, 12:30 p.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: Walk 3-4 miles of scenic trails through South Park while learning about the natural and social history of the area. Then, take a short drive to Barley’s & Hop’s Beer Cafe for a seasonal microbrew tasting with experts. Try hand-picked beers along with cheese, breads and other light snacks. Minimum age is 21.
