Get Out: Antique Appraisal, Meatballs and Music & Chinese New Year

Check out these 10 events Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Why Go?: This weekend, Kurt Scobie will perform at David’s Music House with opening act Marielle Thomas. Start your weekend off with some great music.

Where?/When?: Citywide, now through Sunday
Why Go?: Pittsburgh Restaurant Week embraces the melting pot of restaurants in our great city in a week-long celebration of dining and food. The Pittsburgh community is invited to celebrate the wealth of options in the dining scene by enjoying a wonderful meal at a participating restaurant at a discounted price. Where?/When?: Outpatient Care Center, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: A blood drive will be held at the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township. Please bring identification with you. Where?/When?: Pottery Barn Kids at The Galleria, 10 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: The National Geographic Little Explorers Club is coming to The Galleria of Mt. Lebanon. This week, the club will focus on all things bugs! Children, ages 3 and up, will learn all about these creatures through hands-on activities, songs and more! Children will receive a badge for each event that they attend. Why Go?: Peters Township Parks and Recreation will host an antique appraisal session at the recreation center. Attendees are invited to bring items for verbal appraisals. A qualified antique dealer will be on hand to identify what makes an antique a collectible and place a value on your treasure. These will be verbal appraisal for $5 per item donation. Where/When: , Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why Go: The PTHS Band Boosters are sponsoring "Meatballs and Music" in the PTHS Cafeteria. Tickets are available through music department students or by phone and email. Why Go?: Barbara Chen will lead this program for children, grades 2-8, and teach lessons of the Chinese language. The program runs on Saturdays from Jan. 21 to March 10. Register at the library's circulation desk.

You are guaranteed to find something unique from 83 vendors selling antiques, gifts, collectibles, clothing, apparel, hobby items, food and much more. Whether you're just browsing or ready to buy, there is something for everyone!

Where?/When?: , 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: Celebrate Chinese New Year, which officially falls on Jan. 23. This year is the Year of the Dragon, the most auspicious animal in the Chinese zodiac. The celebration will feature music, treats, dancing and more. Register by emailing programs@ptlibrary.org, at the library's circulation desk, or call 724-941-9430.
