Get Out: Safe Sitter Class, Theater & Little Explorers Club

Here are 10 events happening in Peters and surrounding areas. Did we miss something? Post it in the comments!

Where/When: , Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Why Go?: This one-day class will be offered in the McNary Conference Center at Canonsburg General Hospital. This is a medically-oriented instruction series that teaches boys and girls, ages 11-13, how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. Participants will learn basic lifesaving techniques, safety tips to prevent accidents, how and when to summon help, basic child care tips and age appropriate activities. Call 1-877-284-2000 to register.
Pricing: $40 includes all class material and a Safe Sitter T-shirt.

Where/When: , Thursday, 2-3 p.m.
Why Go: The library is offering a technology program in the new senior space of the library, the . Library staff and volunteers will work hands-on with technologies such as the iPad, eReaders, iPods, downloadable books and more. No registration is required.
Pricing: Free

Where?/When?: South Park Theatre, Thursday-Saturday, 8 p.m.
Why Go?: The South Park Theatre presents "The Psychic." The play is about a down-on-his luck writer in desperation to make the rent, who puts a sign in his apartment window that reads "Psychic Readings $25." The sign draws a variety of characters into a tangled murder mystery comedy.
Pricing: Basic admission is $12 for plays, but subscribers pay $10. Discounted rates for groups of 15 or more people are available at $2 off per person.

Where?/When?: Friday, 3 to 5 p.m.
Why Go?: Peters Township Public Library's Young Adult Department is hosting an Anime Club in the Teen Reading Room. Teens interested in all things Anime and Manga will thoroughly enjoy this program.

Where?/When?: , Friday and Saturday, 1:30 p.m.
Why Go?: This is the last chance to catch this Little Lake production! Where in the world is Miss Nelson? It's up to the kids in Miss Nelson's class, with help from Detective McSmogg, to find their missing teacher. Some say she has gone into space. Some suspect she's under the sea. Miss Nelson has disappeared!
Pricing: Children $8/Adults $9; Group Rates: 20-49 persons, $6; 50 persons or more, $5.50.

Where/When: South Park Amphitheater, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: This week, Pure Gold will perform oldies at the South Park Amphitheater.
Pricing: Free

Where?/When?: Pottery Barn at the Galleria, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: The National Geographic Little Explorers Club is coming to Pottery Barn at the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon. This week, the club will focus on all things lions! Children, ages 3 and up, will learn all about these big cats through hands-on activities, songs and more! Children will receive a badge for each event they attend. Call 412-344-1615 to register!

Where/When: Cecil Municipal Park, Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Why Go?: The 19th Annual Cruisin Classics Hot Rod Hoedown a car cruise that is open to all years of specialized vehicles. There will be awards for best GM, Ford, Mopar, Customs, Streetrod, Street Machine, Antique/Classics and Club Participation. The event also includes music by DJ Dan Brown, food, drink, goodie bags, dash plaques, Chinese auction and door prizes.
Pricing: Entry Donation is $10.

Where/When: , Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go?: Neville House Associates presents a special one day Woodville Plantation Antiques Show and Sale held at the  Neville House Museum. Proceeds will benefit the Neville Museum. The Antique Show will feature forty diversified antique dealers in an outdoor setting adjacent to the Neville House.
