Get Out: Tai Chi, Chamber Chase 5K and Art Class

Where?/When?: , Friday, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Why Go?: West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) invites individuals living with arthritis to learn about the benefits of practicing Tai Chi. This free workshop will introduce participants to the movements of Tai Chi and explain why this combination of exercise and meditation is ideal for those coping with arthritis pain and swelling. Where?/When?: , Saturday, 9 a.m.
Why Go?: Proceeds from the Peters Township Chamber Chase will benefit the Peters Township Chamber Scholarship Program. Registration and packet pick-up is available at the on Oct. 14 from 1-5 p.m., and on race day from 7:15-8:45 a.m. Click here to register online. Runners should arrive early on race day to get to the starting line. The 5K course will run on the Arrowhead Trail. Overall and age group awards will be presents for both runners and walkers. After the race, refreshments, awards and prizes will be available.
Pricing: $20

Where?/When?: , Saturday, 10-11 a.m.
Why Go?: Learn how you can make decorations for your home with natural material that is abundant in the fall. The class will be making a small arrangement to take home.  
Pricing: $5 material fee paid to instructor the day of the class.

Where?/When?: McMurray Art League, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go?: The McMurray Art League is offering a Sketchbook Binding class at the art studio. The instructor for the class is Pat Buckley. Call 412-508-8451 or email classregistrar@mcmurrayartleague.org to register.
Pricing: Member: $30/day, Non-member: $35/day, plus $20 for supplies.

Where?/When?: Old Habitat Re-Store, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go?: There will be a "bag sale" at the old Habitat Re-Store located in downtown Washington. A $5 fee will be charged and you may have all that you can carry in one trip. You may re-enter for an additional $3 fee as often as you like. No grocery carts, wagons will be permitted. Bring a bag and take advantage of this unique shopping experience. Habitat for Humanity would like to thank the Washington County community for its support and interest in the re-store program.
Pricing: $5 for first visit, $3 for any time after.

Where?/When?: , Saturday, 1-4 p.m.
Why Go?: Stop by Kid's Kingdom Child Care for some family fun. The events features arts and crafts, games and prizes. Children will be able to meet Elmo from 2-4 p.m. in the indoor gym. The JMS Balloon Art Company will also be on hand from 2-4 p.m. to make balloon creations. Don’t forget to enter a drawing to win $500 in free child care.

Why Go?: Bring the family to the Fall Family Matinee! The Little Lake Theatre presents Anne of Green Gables based on the novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne and her friends will visit you as you enjoy tea or lemonade, sandwiches and yummy dessert treats.
Pricing: Children 15 and under: $12; Adults: $14

Where?/When?: , Saturday 6:30-8 p.m.
Why Go?: This is the Fouth Annual Infant & Pregnancy Loss Walk and Memorial Service. The event is free and open to all who have been affected by the loss of an infant or unborn baby. The walk will be held in the outdoor pavilion.

9.
Where?/When?: , Saturday, 9 a.m.
Why Go?: All residents are invited to the Outpatient Care Center every Saturday in October. Kids wearing their team uniform receive a treat, families receive a first aid kit and all can register to win an iPad.

Where?/When?: , Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go?: The Pet Search Rabies Plus Clinic will feature all different types of vaccinations such as rabies, bordetella, lyme and more. SNAP (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program) vouchers will be available. For safety, dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers.
