Get Out: Charity Resale, Vocal Workshop & History Commemoration

Check out these five events in Peters Township Friday through Sunday.

1.
Where/When: , 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday
Why Go?: It's that time of year—to be enjoying the warm weather and playing outside with kids, family and friends! So what better way to get a jumpstart on the season than shopping at the annual Kids Resale! You will shop from many quality items, including kids clothing (infant to pre-teen), equipment, maternity and toys. All proceeds (after expenses) will benefit local pregnancy resource centers and the Washington City Mission.

Where?/When?: , 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday
Why Go?: Are you constantly pressed for time? Why does it seem there is more to do than there is time available? This is Part III of the Achieving Peak Performance seminar series presented by Tom Crea, motivational speaker and developmental coach. Open to adults, as well as students (middle school and older), seeking to get the most throughout life. Parents and children are encouraged to attend together.

Where?/When?: , 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Stuff this truck with treats for troops, supporting Operation Troop Appreciation. Stop by Walgreens to help donate much needed items to our troops overseas. The list of items needed can be found at http://www.operationtroopappreciation.org, or stop in the store for more information.

Where/When: , 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday
Why Go: Artists featured on America's Got Talent, MTV's Top Pop Group, CBS BoyzIIMen's A Cappella Quest and the live stages that shaped NBC's "The Sing-Off" will summit at Peters Township High School as part of an all-vocal music workshop and concert. Where/When: , 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: The library will host Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War reading and discussion series—a 150th Anniversary Commemoration. The five-part reading and discussion series which will focus on making sense of the American Civil War. The library is one of more than 150 sites throughout the country that will host the reading and discussion series, a 2012 project of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Additional support in Pennsylvania is provided by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. Dr. Elaine Parsons, Civil War scholar and associate professor of History at Duquesne University, will lead all five discussion sessions.
