Learn How to Jump Start College Savings at Peters Township Library

With college costs rising every year, the Peters Township Public Library will host a program to help parents understand their options and prepare to finance their child’s college education well before their high school years.

“Jump Start Your Child's College Savings” will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 at the library. Presenters will be Jayeann Harr, Higher Education Access Partner of SW PHEAA and David Dominick from the Pennsylvania Treasury Department.

At the program, parents of students in elementary and middle school can learn from a representative from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency about the college financial aid process, the programs for aid that are currently available, and how to apply for scholarships.  

A PA 529 program specialist will explain how you can save for college and on your Pennsylvania income taxes, how you can avoid paying any federal or state income taxes on your college savings growth and how you can save for college with little impact on your chances for financial aid.
