Memorial Day Observance Planned for Peters

VFW Post 764 to lead parade and community activities Monday.

Memorial Day activities in Peters Township will begin early on Monday morning.              

will conduct Memorial Day activities for Peters 5:30 Monday morning when the Dawn Patrol visits—one of six area cemeteries they will visit for memorial services.

The Dawn Patrol will conduct services with the firing squad and the sounding of “Taps.”

Following a breakfast at the on Valley Brook Road, the members of the VFW will take part in the 9 a.m. annual parade, which will form in the parking lot of and move to the Memorial Park at the VFW.

The band will take part, and the parade will also feature antique cars.

Traditional Memorial Day activities will begin at approximately 9:15 at Memorial Park, featuring several speakers.

Following the ceremonies, the VFW Post 764 Canteen will provide hot dogs and a luncheon will also be held at the canteen at noon, following an open house.

A flag-raising ceremony will close the day at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend all activities.
