Obituary: Carol Ann (Ledger) Foley

1939 - 2012

 Director , of McMurray, died Tuesday afternoon. She was 73.

Foley was the beloved wife of 22 years to Edward L. Foley, M.D.; loving mother of Scott Edward Rawlings, Robert Brent (Alexis) Rawlings; caring stepmother of Jeffrey Scott (Vicki) Foley, Amy Elizabeth (Jim) Morton, Eric Kendall (Amy) Foley, and Mark Andrew Foley; dear grandmother of Elizabeth Anne, Kyle Edward, Sarah Marie, Alexis Grace, Andrew Scott, Amelia Maree, Evan Griffith, Olivia Morgan, Marjorie Elizabeth and Hannah Marie; sister of Lynne Coppa of Carson, CA; aunt of Rebecca Carbullido, Lynda Atkinson, Chris Mapel and Mark Mapel.

Foley was born June 22, 1939 in Steubenville, OH to the late Arch Edward and Marjorie Emily Ledger. She graduated from Follansbee High School as third High Honor Student in 1957, attended Steubenville Business College and worked for Beneficial Finance Corp. in Steubenville for several years.

Living in Owensboro, KY, for six years, then returning to southwestern PA, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother until her sons were in high school. In 1987, she became executive director of the Peters Township Chamber of Commerce, serving on various committees in the community over the years including fundraising, Character Counts and Athena Award of Washington County.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority since 1961 and an active member of since 1980. She was an ordained elder, deacon, president of the Women’s Association, newsletter editor, member of Rachel Circle and served on various committees over the years.

Foley and her husband were dedicated football fans, attending Steelers and Pitt games every season.

Family and friends will be received at on Thursday and Friday—2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Center Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private.
