Peters Pooch Scores Big in Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

The Harrington's Bearded Collie receives Best of Breed distinction.

If you watched the prestigious Westminster Kennel Dog Show televised Monday night from New York, you saw a winning Bearded Collie from Peters Township.

GCH Dunhill Celebration—a Best of Breed winner—was bred by Dr. Kathy Harrington; her husband Ray; and Carolyn O'Neil.

The Bearded Collie is in the herding group; GCH Dunhill Celebration did not place in the Best of Group competition.

The Best of Show distinction will be awarded Tuesday. The show will be televised at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on USA Network.

Harrington was well known for bringing her collies to school with her, to the delight of the students. She also got the students involved in supporting Animal Friends, a no-kill shelter.

The Harringtons, who live in Peters Township, started breeding Bearded Collies about 25 years ago, according to their website.

Harrington, a retired Pine-Richland Middle School principal, was well known for bringing her collies to school with her, to the delight of the students. She also got the students involved in supporting Animal Friends, a no-kill shelter.
