Summer Reading Program Kicks Off with Carnival

Peters Township Public Library held its annual summer reading kick-off party on Saturday, June 4.

It was a carnival kickoff for the annual Summer Reading Program as librarians and volunteers manned crafts, games and concessions out on the lawn. Tom Paul, a local musician, entertained the crowd with a variety of pop musical hits.

Librarian Maddie Siegel showed a bunch of kids how to make mandalas, and Heather Blake, affectionately known as Miss Heather, set up a variety of games.

Blake put “rereading the Harry Potter series” on her own personal reading list this summer as she awaits the final film due out July 15.

Librarian Lynn Wrzosek was signing kids up for the summer reading programs and handing out keychain rubber duckies along with the packet of information.

This year, the summer reading program theme is all about traveling, entitled “The Library – Your Passport to the World!”
