Walk, Sale to Raise Awareness of Autism at Peters Township High School

Mark your calendars for the second-annual walk.

Did you know that one in 88 people are now diagnosed with autism—and that number is growing at an alarming rate?

Because of statistics such as these, students at Peters Township High School's Interact Club wish to make people more aware of autism and its effects on families and communities.

The club is sponsoring its second-annual Walk and Sale for Autism Awareness. The students have created fabric-covered pots, fleece scarves, and T-shirts to raise funds to benefit the PTSD autism programs and Autism Speaks.

The students will also be taking orders and selling other Autism Awareness items outside the high school cafeteria during lunch periods for the entire month of April.

Mark your calendar for April 27! The walk will be held at the PTHS Stadium from noon to 4 p.m.

There will be a Chinese auction of gift baskets, a bake sale and music (and if it rains, it will be moved inside to the gym).

"We invite everyone to come out and join the fun!" organizers said.
