Watch: McMurray Welcomes Home Injured War Hero

Residents in the McMurray area helped welcome home a way hero Saturday.

After spending nearly two years at the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Program in Tampa, Fla., for serious wounds from stepping on an improvised explosive device on Sept. 25, 2011, USMC Sgt. Doug Vitale is back in Pittsburgh.

A motorcade that included myriad motorcycles and emergency vehicles escorted him to the VFW Post 764 in McMurray, where a community ceremony took place.

Vitale’s return kicked off a full week of celebrations that includes a concert in his honor. For information on the concert, click here.
