Creatures of the Night Conjure Up Fun on the Haunted Trail

Peterswood Park crawls with creepy creatures this weekend for the spooky fun of the Haunted Trail.

Student Jaden Barney, and a contingent of volunteers dressed as witches, zombies and vampires, trailblazed through Peterswood Park Friday night.

They led groups of people through this year's Haunted Trail.

Barney, decorated in stage blood, kept the hikers on the path as they followed her through the woods.

All sorts of creatures of the night jumped out at a group of people walking the trail.

Zoe Staple had to hitch a ride on the shoulders of Steve Mustin (father of Zoe's best friend, Maddy). The young girl was terrified.

Afterward, Staple said, “My pants are still dry, so I must not be as scared as I thought.”

Ringgold High School student Shelby Abel pointed at the girl and her friends and said, “One of those girls nearly screamed my eardrums off.”

Abel and her friend, Sarah Turkovich, also from Ringgold High, loved the whole Haunted Trail experience.

“We went last year on a field trip with school,” she said.

The two are plotting a return trip for next year.

“It was so awesome,” she added. “The chainsaw man was the scariest. Last year, I had my picture taken with him.”

After a brisk hike up the hill, past the various ghouls, goblins and other creatures of the night, the trail leaders deposit their charges onto a tractor filled with hay bails. The tractor takes the haunted hikers back down to the parking lot of the where the trail began.

Hot chocolate, water and soda were sold along with popcorn and candy.

The Haunted Trail is located at the at 700 Meredith Drive, Venetia, PA.

The trail runs one more night—Saturday 7:30-10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person.
