Bride and groom's families bake 6,000 cookies for the wedding.

What could be sweeter than love? How about 6,000 cookies at a wedding.

Jenna Butts and JR Cornell wed Saturday at  near Bridgeville, and were greeted at the reception by a sweet tooth’s dream.

The bride’s sister, Jillian Butts, said the two families come from deep Italian roots and have accumulated numerous recipes that were handed down from generations. She said they contacted relatives asking for them to send cookies and have received 6,000.

They were being stored at  until the wedding day.

“I don’t think they ever imagined it would be this large,” she said. “When we went down to the deli and it began to multiple, it became a reality for them.”

The bride and groom were high school sweethearts who graduated from Carlynton High School. Jenna is a school teacher and JR is a local police officer after spending four years in the Air Force, Jillian said.

“We’re a close-knit family who loves to eat and bake cookies,” Jillian said.
