5 Things You Need to Know Today

Volunteers needed at hospital's snack shop, deadline for senior award information and overdue library books, and CGH to sponsor annual golf tournament—register now.

—The hospital is in need of adult volunteers to work in the hospital's snack shop at the new . Those interested would help by serving refreshments and selling merchandise. Volunteers are welcome to attend the initial meeting and orientation Tuesday, May 31 at 9 a.m. For more information click on the link above.

Information Needed for Upcoming Senior Awards & Commencement Program—The deadline to submit information is Tuesday, May 31. On June 7, 2011 the Senior Awards Ceremony will take place to recognize all seniors who have earned scholarships or other special academic awards. The school is asking this form to be completed and returned to the counseling office. In the event that you receive notification of a scholarship or award between now and the end of the school year, please notify Mrs. Cunningham or Mrs. Peelor immediately so your award can be added to the program. Information received after May 31 will not be printed in the programs. The school urges all students to complete the form even if they have not received any scholarships or awards.

library books must be returned by Friday, June 3—Overdue book notices will be given to the students starting Monday, June 6, and will continue to be sent out until all books are returned. If your child receives a notice, the  asks that you return, replace or pay for the book(s). If books are not returned or replaced by June 7, Power School access will be denied, report cards will not be mailed and yearbooks will not be distributed until the student's library obligations have been resolved. The library thanks patrons for cooperation in helping it keep the library shelves at the middle school full.

—A nurse from Canonsburg General Hospital will provide free blood pressure and BMI screenings during the Senior Games at on Tuesday, June 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

—The annual benefit golf tournament is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 12 at . Proceeds benefit the Patient Gateway Project at the hospital. The event, co-sponsored by the Canonsburg General Hospital Medical Staff and Angelo Falconi's Moon Township Dealerships, includes brunch, dinner, raffle and skill prizes.
