Comcast has started a trial program to offer electricity as part of its Xfinity service bundles for Pennsylvania customers.

Comcast currently offers phone, cable and internet package deals, but through a deal with NRG Energy will now add electricity to those bundle deals.

Electricity to Comcast customers currently is limited to Pittsburgh-area residents who currently are customers of Duquesne Power, but the offerings may spread depending on the success of the program.

And Comcast is pushing the program heavily: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Duquesne Power customers who switch to Xfinity are being offered monetary enrollment bonuses, free premium channels and even free smart home thermostats, depending on the Xfinity bundles they sign up for.

Would you sign up for electricity by Comcast?

If their rates are like their cables rates, NO!

And they'll be providing the same reliability and customer service you receive with cable, phone and internet. I hope they provide a free generator if you switch.

I don' t have an issue with PECO, it's PGW who's the thief.

why would you begrudge a poor family like the Roberts from earning a living? If they can buy the water co, and gas co. just think how simple they will make our lives, just paying one bill for everything, and they can send out the same inept service tech to handle all the repairs, between 8 & 12 or 12 & 5. There ought to be a law.

I dropped them YEARS ago when they only had cable. As soon as some other option was available I got the competitor. No way would I ever get Comcast and I know a lot of folks who switched from the to Verizon like I did. Like someone else said, if they were the last place to supply electric I would buy solar panels.
