If You Could Open Any Small Business, What Would It Be?

What small businesses do you want to see move into Dormont, Brookline or Beechview?

With Small Business Saturday just a few days away, we posed this question on the Dormont-Brookline Patch Facebook page: If you could open any small business in town, what would it be and why?

Readers had some great answers.

One reader said that if start-up money was available, she'd open a quilting store. Another reader suggested a yarn store. There were also ideas for music and record stores, candy shops, more thrift or consignment shops, and more stores offering specialty foods, such as gluten-free products.

One reader suggested Pittsburgh Popcorn and—countering how delicious that would be—another suggested a fitness center with a smoothie bar, where various nutrition and health classes could be offered.

Dormont-Brookline Patch also is keeping a running list of local small businesses that have Facebook pages. Click here to check it out.

Too bad it didn't last. A place like that would be a great addition to either community.

I would love to open an antiques store on Brookline Blvd, and I might even do it someday yet!

That's a great idea! I have a lot of vintage/antique furniture in my house already. Would be great to have someplace close by to find those type of things.
