Kids Get Crafty with Easter Cupcakes

A nearby bakery held an Easter cupcake decorating class on Friday.

Kids from Upper St. Clair—and all over the South Hills, including —gathered at  Friday to celebrate the Easter holiday with cupcake decorating.

A dozen cupcakes—half chocolate and half vanilla—served as each little artist's empty canvas with a table full of colorful frostings, sprinkles and candy at their disposal.

Most girls said they planned to share their edible designs with their family members this weekend.

"It's nice to reach out to the community and do something fun with the kids," said Abby Cable, of The Pie Place. "I thought it went great. We had some pros."

Cable suggested cupcake decorators at home freeze their cupcakes for 10 minutes before icing.

She also suggested using toasted coconut to create birds' nests on top of the cupcakes, with some colorful malted milk balls in the middle to represent eggs.
