Nationally Recognized Heart Care Comes to Peters

Residents of Peters Township and its many neighboring Allegheny and Washington County communities now have much closer access to some of the country’s preeminent heart disease specialists, thanks to the ever-expanding clinical services offered at .

A number of leading physicians from Allegheny General Hospital’s (AGH) nationally recognized Gerald McGinnis Cardiovascular Institute have opened or are planning to open offices at the Outpatient Care Center, which is located on Gallery Drive, just off of Route 19.  

Among those who will be seeing patients at the center include;

• George Sokos, DO, a cardiologist who specializes in the treatment of heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.

• Christopher Bonnet, MD, director of the Section of Electrophysiology, who specializes in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation.

• Stephen Bailey, MD, director of the Division of Cardiac Surgery and surgical director of the Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support program. Dr. Bailey will provide pre operative cardiac surgical evaluations and post-operative care at the Outpatient Care Center. 

Drs. Sokos, Bonnet and Bailey are part of a comprehensive cardiovascular team at AGH that was just named by US News and World Report as one of the country’s best heart care programs.  

Additional AGH cardiovascular disease specialists will be joining the Peters Outpatient Care Center staff in the future as the demand for such services increases.
