Nearby: Ardolino's Pizza to Expand

The Upper St. Clair business owners said they're looking to host more indoor and outdoor seating, welcoming acoustic performances in the summer.

The owners of  on Boyce Road have taken the first step in their plans to build a new restaurant.

The  Planning Commission gave the Ardolinos tentative approval last Thursday.

After opening up the pizzeria 28 years ago, Rodney Ardolino said he's ready to expand. He hopes to build a second building with more indoor and outdoor seating, and lease the existing building to another business that would compliment the pizzeria, such as an ice cream or coffee shop.

"We want it to be a family place; a place for kids to come," said Tammy Ardolino, co-owner and wife of Rodney.

Rodney and Tammy have two sons in high school, Joseph and Nolan, who participate in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony. They asked the planning commissioners to allow acoustic performances on the outdoor patio in the summer. The planning commissioners agreed to the request, recommending the patio close down before 11 p.m.
