Martin Yan—the celebrated host of more than 3,000 cooking shows and author of 30 cookbooks including the award-winning Martin Yan’s Feast—will conduct food demonstrations at the Market District store in Bethel Park.

As a Master Chinese chef, a restaurateur, a professional instructor and prolific author, Yan has captured the attention, admiration, and the hearts of millions of cooking fans by spiking his cooking artistry with a unique personal ingredient: wit, according to his yancancook.com website.
Born in Canton, China, to a restaurateur father and a mother who owned and operated a grocery store, Yan possessed a passion for cooking at an early age. His formal induction into the culinary world began at age 13 with an apprenticeship at an established Hong Kong restaurant, his website states.
He polished his natural talent at the Overseas Institute of Cookery in Hong Kong, and upon graduation, traveled to the United States to further pursue his academic dreams. Yan earned his master's degree in food and science from the University of California at Davis.
In 1978, Yan pioneered a daily television cooking show featuring Chinese cuisine—Yan Can Cook. The show aired worldwide in 1985, making history as the first in its genre.
The format expanded to encompass distinct styles of Asian cooking, with chef Yan traveling to various destinations and introducing viewers to local cuisines on site.
