New South Hills Village Target Opens

Patch got a sneak peek of the store Tuesday, March 5.

Area officials joined employees and VIGs (Very Important Guests) in celebrating the opening of the new South Hills Village Target Tuesday night.

"The overall area is going to benefit from this," said Bob Orchowski, president of the Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners. "I'm certain Target's going to be a great addition. Thank you and welcome."

The new Target, located in Upper St. Clair, is one step below a Super Target. It includes a Starbucks and a grocery area with fresh produce.

The store is open to the public on March 6. Its grand opening is March 10. The store is on the first floor of the former Boscov's, a building that remained vacant for years.

Along with Orchowski, Bethel Park Mayor Clifford Morton, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy's field director Nate Nevala, Upper St. Clair Police Chief Ron Pardini and Bethel Park Police Chief John Mackey attended Tuesday's ribbon-cutting event.

Target officials presented Mackey $2,000 for the police department's child safety program.

What is "one step below a Super Target"?

I'd rather wait for the Fresh Market to open to do my grocery shopping.
I doubt Target will be able to compete with the Giant Eagle Market District just around the corner. "Target officials presented Mackey $2,000 for the police department's child safety program."--that is fantastic, hope they keep making annual donations.
