One of Paula Deen's sons is coming to Giant Eagle Market District in Bethel Park.
Jamie Deen, Food Network chef and star of Home for Dinner with Jamie Deen, will make a special appearance and demonstrate his down-home recipes at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Deen’s appearance is free to the public, however, tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Advance ticket registration will be available online at marketdistrict.com.
An entrepreneur, businessman, author and son of American cooking and lifestyle icon, Paula, Deen has been an integral part of the legendary growth of the one-time small business, The Bag Lady, the famous sandwich delivery service. Working with his mother and younger brother Bobby, Deen developed the “lunch-and-love-in-a-bag” in Savannah, GA.
The Deen family took The Bag Lady concept: great food, great value and a whole lot of love and expanded it into one of America’s most successful restaurant launches—the 1989 opening of The Lady and Sons in Savannah. Deen’s attention to the business side enabled his mother to craft recipes and ultimately over 14 different cookbooks to date that helped garner The Lady and Sons’ national exposure.
Soon after, the Deen brothers began making regular appearances on Paula’s cooking shows on the Food Network, and later launched their own show on the network’s “Road Tasted,” as they explored America in search of more examples of love and warmth-infused cooking.
Jamie and his brother Bobby have also published four books: The Deen Bros. Cookbook-Recipes From the Road (2007), Y’all Come Eat (2008), Take It Easy (2009) and Get Fired Up (2011). As well, they’ve expanded their efforts with a line of spices, BBQ sauces and T-shirts.
Jamie lives with his wife Brooke and their two children in Savannah. He serves on the boards of the Bethesda Home for Boys and the Coastal America’s Second Harvest, and is a sought after speaker at small business conferences, schools and community outreach programs.
