Popular Pittsburgh Pizzeria Applies to Open Restaurant in Peters

An old bank would be renovated.

The owner of Fiori's Pizza and Italian Restaurant in Brookline has applied with Peters Township to open a new restaurant on Route 19.

Owner Fiorentino Moscutiello is asking for council to approve a conditional use to renovate the former Parkvale Saving Bank at 3801 Washington Rd. into a sit-down Italian restaurant.

The plan calls for enclosing two drive-thru tell lanes, turning the former bank lobby into the main dining area, making two former offices a kids' area for birthday parties and other functions and creating a Wi-Fi lounge.

The restaurant is proposing to operate from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the week and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. during the weekend. The restaurant would seat 100 customers and no delivery would be available.

Whooppeee! Two new pizza place announcements in Peters in one week! Can it get any better? Maybe this one is more upscale than the others? Or, a "high-end" pizza joint? We await the next government report telling our citizens to eat healthy. Yea, more pizza for everybody!

Sallie... Too bad you think a restaurant that sells pizza is not classy! People that live in Peters are not above people's rights, as in opening restaurants.....Do yourself a favor, don't spend your money there. That is your right! Best pizza in the Burg! And nicest people.

I am very happy to see that Fiori's is coming to Peters. I think it is a great location and it is great to see a family owned business growing. Sallie...this twp is a classy area and will continue to be no matter what type of restaurants come into the are. It is great to see that the area is growing!

How could Peters Township ever allow such a classless place to open! We need these young successful families to move out and spend their money elsewhere ASAP... As a PT resident, I welcome any new business. Not every place in Peters should be formal. I wish them luck and look forward to taking my wife and kids there.

Wow....class. I wouldn't want to live in Peters if I thought it made me a better "class". Good Luck Fiori's! Be prepared to deal with some of the "Peter's Class" and then all the normal people as well.

Good one Sallie, the funny thing is you think restaurant choice is indicative of class. Good thing class isn't judged on use of exclamation points. Fiori's has great pizza and my classless wife and family can't wait.

Ditto. My uncle lived in Brookline when i was a kid and we used to walk down the hill to go there. We even brought the dog with us. They are great people and the pizza is classic.

Wonderful pizza! The best I have had in the area. Look out Harry's!!!
Donzo April 18, 2013 at 11:35 PM
You're righ Deborah. That says it all! Pizza Town or how about Nail City???
Donzo April 18, 2013 at 11:38 PM
Hope...even if it is the BEST pizza around does Peters Twp. really need another pizza restaurant. Have you ever been to Bistro 19 in Mt. Lebanon. Now that is something that Peters could surely use and appreciate. Just saying!

OK, OK, ... lots of opinions here for the intended pizza joint. Now, let us here some opinions on which pizza joint(s) will be out of business within a few months. With two new joints opening soon, the supply will increase significantly. But, the demand ....? Well, no reason to think the demand will change much. With that in mind, somebody (one, two, or ???) will have to go. Which ones will close shop? How can the market support all the pizza joints?
Donzo April 18, 2013 at 11:49 PM
Roger, I agree. I think you got it sorted out. Stay on track! More pizza....UGH!
Kristan M April 19, 2013 at 12:11 AM
Sallie Cox, sorry to see you deleted your comment. I'm sure many people would like to have seen what we are taking about.
Joe Sankow April 19, 2013 at 09:34 AM
My hope is to have our local leaders rename us to "Pizza Township"!
Donzo April 21, 2013 at 09:33 PM
Joe, that is soooo sad. But true!
Roger April 21, 2013 at 09:51 PM
I laid down the challenge to all those who were thrilled that one more pizza place would start shop in Peters -- Who will bear the brunt of these two new places opening for business? While seeing new business emerge, the law of supply and demand is at work here. Some existing business owner will take the hit in his pocketbook. Obviously, there are lots of folks enthusiastic for this new place of business. You are connoisseurs of pizza. But, the reality is somebody else, or others, have to close down. Who will it be?

Once Fioris lands in Peters there wont be much competition for them! Hands down they are the best, others will be closing! Just sayin!

Be specific. Who will take the financial bath and be put out of business. I put down a challenge a couple of weeks ago, asking who would be put out of business. For all the interest in this place, nobody has come forth with a list of those who will be closing doors.

Calm down rodger u must own a pizza shop? Most of the pizza shops out this way are just ok, im just saying that once fioris moves in it will become the favorite pizza shop by most!
