Sarris Fans Line Up for 'Sale of the Year'

Officials said Sarris chocolate fans were lined up outside the store nearly two hours before the Canonsburg shop opened its doors for the half-off sale Monday.

Norm Candelore Jr. said he couldn't believe his eyes when he made his way into work on Monday.

The Sarris Candies retail operations manager said that while doors to the Canonsburg shop was scheduled to open its doors at 9 a.m. for the annual half-off Easter candy sale, people were lined up at 7 a.m. for a chance to grab up some chocolate.

"They were lined up outside, sitting in lounge chairs and reading," Candelore said. "I couldn't believe it. There was just enough light for them to read their books as they waited."

And he added that one fan called it the "sale of the year"—an event she waits for annually.

Of special interest, Candalore said, were the 1-pound chocolate eggs (the peanut butter meltaway variety, he said, is one of the best sellers).
