The Meadows Racetrack to Conduct Mock Fire Drill

The event is planned for Thursday—but casino operations won't be interrupted.

It's almost mock fire drill time at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.

Representatives from North Strabane, Peters, Chartiers and Canonsburg fire departments, in coordination with The Meadows security department, will conduct the mock fire drill at The Meadows Racetrack barns at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The mock drill will be coordinated through the Washington County 911 center and will include Canonsburg Ambulance, in addition to the four primary fire companies.

North Strabane Fire Department recently opened its new emergency services center on adjacent property, donated by The Meadows.

Nearby residents and commercial neighbors will be notified in advance and The Meadows Racetrack & Casino will remain in full operation throughout the drill.  Signage and other communication tools will be used to notify guests.

Emergency responders and personnel will utilize fog machines and red strobe lights to simulate real conditions in Barn #1.

Individuals will serve as victims; however, there will be no horses in the barn during the drill.

The event is expected to test operational matters across jurisdictions and various issues including water pressure and timing.
