Reminder: Trax to Host First Wine Fest

Trax Farms will have its first wine festival in 147 years on Saturday.

On Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m., historic, 147-year-old will have its first wine festival. Traditionally, Trax Farms has offered exceptional wine tastings and lectures but the festival will be bigger than anything the farm has ever done before with great food, live music and a showcase of the very best from local, award-wining western PA wineries.

Participating wineries include:

Ripepi Winery & Vineyard, http://www.ripepiwinery.com/, from Monongahela, PA. Ripepi Winery & Vineyard was founded by Richard Ripepi in 1987.

Greendance the Winery at Sandhill, http://www.greendancewinery.com/, from just outside of Mt. Pleasant, will sample the very best of their 40 delicious wines.

Greenhouse Winery, http://greenhousewinery.com/, with stores at Irwin and Rillton started in September 2007. Greenhouse already have perfected their 20 distinct and fun wines that every palate can enjoy.

Trax Farm’s wine shop, Arrowhead Wine Cellars, www.traxfarms.com/wineshop, will sample its internationally recognized wines grown on the picturesque shores of Lake Erie.

Delicious food from Trax Farms, Mittys Restaurant & Pizzeria, and grilled goodness by Big Black Grill, bigblackgrill.com, will be available.

Food must be purchased separately.

Taste western PA’s best wines while listening to the area’s best music from local sensation Nancy Deckart. Deckart spins, twists and blends country and rock in a concoction of tunes that leave listeners wanting more. Her CD, "Life Jacket," was selected as one of WYEP's top releases by Pittsburgh artists for 2011. 

Deckart is joined by high-energy country rockers Black Rock County (blackrockcounty.com). Together they put their signature style, tight musicianship and three-part harmony on modern country music.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of. You must be 21 to purchase and sample wines. A free Trax Farms wine glass and a chance to win a $100 Trax Farms gift card will be given with each purchase.

Trax is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
