Where to Find the Best Black Friday Deals in the South Hills

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday rule the shopping roost after Thanksgiving.

If you have a black belt in Black Friday shopping, listen up: area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters even earlier this year—starting on Thanksgiving Day!

Walmart announced that it would open its doors at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22 and offer holiday doorbusters while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39.

Not to be outdone, Target and Best Buy are also planning all-out holiday shopping assaults.

Target's deals begin at 9 p.m. According to an ad leaked online, the best deals will be for TVs, a Nook, a Nikon camera and an XBOX 360 Kinect bundle.

At Best Buy, doors open at midnight. Doorbusters include deals on TVs, phones and Samsung laptop bundles.

Walmart will offer its biggest deals from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. The store will offer three items at low prices—an iPad, a TV and a Blu-ray player. If the store runs out, you can still buy them at discounted prices but you must register for them online by midnight and have them delivered to your local store.

South Hills Village will open its doors as soon as midnight strikes. And the nearby Tanger Outlets will open at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

The recently-relocated Trunk Shows Boutique on Route 19 are having a huge BOGO special. Buy one get one free on scarves, gloves, clothing, ornaments and home decor. Here are the hours:

Doorbusters only 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Doorbusters only 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If there's anything left, Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Want to avoid the holiday shopping mega-crowds altogether? Look for Cyber Monday deals on Nov. 26 or visit your local mom-and-pop retailers on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24.

Erin, It depends on what you are looking for. In a lot of cases, the deep discounts are on older items or items that are going to be discontinued.

Interesting. I covered Black Friday for Patch last year, and (at least in the clothing stores) it seemed like the prices weren't so much cheaper than when they have seasonal sales. I wondered if it was similar for things like toys, appliances, home goods, etc.

I might be a little biased, but the Family Double Feature at the Hollywood Theater is the best deal of the day. 2:00 - cartoons and NeverEnding Story and 4:00 - cartoons and Goonies. Only $7 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors for each show. Plus the cheapest concession prices around. Come after shopping or come instead of shopping.

Agreed! Thanks, Scott!

While I have participated in Black Friday For Most of My Adult Life..I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THIS YEARS TATICS & DEALS...The best part was to go to bed early wake up at some ridiculous hour & get in line by 3:30 or 4am to be the first to get in& boast to others in line that you were the first…. Last year when they opened at midnight I thought this is pushing it, BUT THIS YEAR THEY CROSSED A LINE & WENT TO FAR...They say it’s for the demand but PEOPLE WAKE UP..IF NO ONE GOES ON THANKSGIVING THAN THEY WILL PUT IT BACK LIKE IT USED TO BE...Just because you don't like your family and want to escape them early...don't let the rest of us suffer. Give Thanksgiving Its Proper RESPECT & Actually have a Day for Being Grateful for What You Have...And Not for How Much You Can Get That I Pad For.....Stop The Greed that has Infringed on a Truly Holy Day & One WE Should ALL BE THANKFUL FOR...FOR WITH OUT OTHERS GIVING THEIR TIME & LIVES FOR US TO BE THANKFUL..WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BUY UNNESSARY THINGS...STOP THE MADNESS PEOPLE…STOP THE MADNESS I SAY & JUST BE THANKFUL …AMEN ;P
