Go Local for the Holidays

Washington Financial Bank is teaming with the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) to encourage consumers to Go Local this holiday season by doing either a portion, or all of their shopping, at local small businesses.  By doing so, consumers will be putting money back to work in Washington County, just like they do every time they dine at a local restaurant or choose to bank locally with a community bank like Washington Financial.

Community banks themselves are huge advocates and supporters of local small businesses.  In fact, community banks fund nearly 60 percent of all small businesses under $1 million.  And because community banks, like Washington Financial, are small businesses themselves, they are able to partner with their small business customers to help them understand local market dynamics and the opportunities and challenges that small businesses in their area face.

“The money deposited in community banks, like Washington Financial, will be reinvested in ways that drive the local economy through small business loans and community development projects,” said Brian Smith, President and CEO of Washington Financial.  “By shopping and banking locally this holiday season, consumers will be making a hometown investment they can be proud of.”
